Day 6 - Friday 23 September

Woke up to a great view of Bedrock from the hotel....

Spotted some painted buffalo on the way out of town

Then it was on to Bear Country USA, a sort of American version of Windsor safari park

Drove through the various enclosures to see....
Elk
Big Horn Sheep
and of course bears, black bears.

They also had some buffalo

and grizzly bears, which are huge.

After the drive you can walk around the smaller animals, such as badgers, foxes, porcupines etc. and of course baby bears ....

Hug a tree....

and of course, just like Strictly has started at home, Dancing with the Stars has started here...

Moving on we drove past some interesting sights..

Finally arriving at Mount Rushmore
very impressive

Interesting to walk around and see the exhibits and how it was made

On the way back to the hotel we went in to see the Crazy Horse monument, which is in the process of being made.  It was the surprise of the day, really interesting, started by one man over 50 years ago and still being done by his family. It is huge... they have already removed over 8 million tons of rock, they only removed half a million for Mount Rushmore...
What it will look like
Finally we went back to Mount Rushmore to see a lighting ceremony. Went on a bit, but it did look good all lit up.

  1. We saw a Bedrock place near the Grand Canyon.

Also, tell me you have one of those cow horns on the front of your PT Criuser!
