Day 7 - Saturday 24 September

Not such an early start today, but we headed East towards the Badlands of South Dakota.
The countryside was pretty featurless and flat, but we kept seeing old advertising signs to "Wall Drug".

It turned out to be an old style American drug store that had advertised in the 1920s to drum up business by giving away free iced water, which was difficult to come by then.

Apparently it was very successful, and the drug store expanded to take over the whole block. It's a bit kitsch but fun

You dont see this in Boots!

This is the original bar that served the iced water

After the short stop we moved on to the park

It is very desolate, and hot, but has some great views

and long empty roads

half of which were non paved and very dusty

but there were still animals to photograph...

Big Horn Goats

Buffalo

even butterflies

With all the unpaved roads it took a lot longer than we expected, so we saw the sunset on the way back to the hotel.
